Mother’s Day Style: Matching Moments for Moms and Minis at Famous Footwear

04.27.26

Coordinated style is having a moment, and just in time for Mother’s Day. The “mom and mini” trend continues to resonate, pairing everyday comfort with playful, polished looks. At Famous Footwear, matching shoes make it easy to step out in sync, whether it is for school drop-offs, weekend outings, or beach days.

From sporty sneakers to classic sandals and nostalgic throwbacks, these standout styles offer something for every kind of outing.

The Nike V5 RNR sneaker delivers an easy, everyday match. Lightweight and versatile, it works just as well for busy mornings as it does for casual weekends. Available in soft pink tones and clean neutrals, it is a practical option that still feels put together for both moms and kids.

For a more timeless approach, Birkenstock continues to lead with its Arizona styles. The classic footbed sandal in suede offers an elevated, all-day option that feels effortless, while the Essentials version brings a lighter, more playful feel in bright, beach-ready colors. Both options translate seamlessly from moms to minis, making them an easy go-to for warm-weather plans.

The Adidas VL Court 3.0 brings an everyday cool factor. Clean, classic and easy to style, it is a versatile sneaker that works across generations. Neutral tones with subtle color accents make it a natural choice for coordinated looks that feel effortless rather than overdone.

No matching lineup would be complete without Converse. The Chuck Taylor remains a staple, offering a timeless silhouette with just enough personality. From classic high tops to platform styles for moms and playful colorways for kids, it is a look that always feels current.

For something more relaxed, Vans delivers with the Caldrone. It leans into that laid-back skater aesthetic while still feeling polished enough for everyday wear. It is an easy option for families who prefer a more casual, street-inspired look.

A touch of Western style comes through with Frye & Co.. Cowboy boots in soft hues add personality and a bit of fun to the mix, making them a standout option for Mother’s Day plans that call for something a little different.

For beach days and warm afternoons, Havaianas keeps things simple. Lightweight flip flops in clean, classic colors are made for sunshine and easy matching moments by the water.

For something with a bit more personality, jelly styles are back in rotation. Jellypop and Blowfish Malibu offer updated takes on the nostalgic favorite, with glossy finishes and easy silhouettes that add a fun, lighthearted touch to any look.

Whether the plan is a casual day out or a Mother’s Day outing, these matching moments bring a thoughtful, stylish twist to everyday dressing.

March for Babies Returns to Irvine May 2

04.27.26

The March of Dimes will host its signature event, March for Babies, on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Wild Rivers Waterpark, bringing together nearly 500 participants in support of maternal and infant health.

As the nation’s oldest charitable walk, March for Babies brings together families, health care leaders, corporate partners and local communities through more than 70 events nationwide. The Orange County walk remains one of the region’s largest community-driven fundraisers, supporting research, education, advocacy and programs that help moms and babies get the best possible start.

The morning will feature leading health care and corporate partners, including MemorialCare, Rady Children's Hospital, Kaiser Permanente, UCI Health and Wild Rivers Waterpark. Attendees can expect a high-energy, family-friendly event with hospital teams, ambassador families and community activations throughout the venue.

Despite advances in medicine, the United States continues to face serious challenges in maternal and infant health, with significant disparities in outcomes for families of color. Funds raised through March for Babies support critical efforts to improve outcomes for moms and babies nationwide.

Event leadership includes Dr. Minal Meht, OB-GYN, serving as event chair. This year’s ambassador family, the Phakousonh family, will share their story. Their son, Remy, was born with Pierre Robin Sequence, a rare condition that affects a baby’s airway, jaw and ability to feed safely. After multiple surgeries and three months in the hospital, Remy is now reaching milestones once thought out of reach. His family credits the care of their NICU team and the support of March of Dimes in helping him thrive.

The event opens at 7:30 a.m., with the walk beginning at 9 a.m. at Wild Rivers Waterpark, 10000 Great Park Blvd., Irvine.
